TOURIST INFORMATION

TARIJA, with an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level,in the southern part of Bolivia, less than 200 kilometersaway from the Argentinian border, is known as the “Bolivian Andalucia”, it has a temperate humid weather, the hospitality of its inhabitants, the beauty of the faces, the altitude wines and singanis, its weather, its natural resources (valleys, rivers, waterfalls, etc.), paleontological and archaeological resources (rupestre engraving caves, precolombian roads, etc) are characteristics of this region.

SAMA RANGE BIOLOGICAL RESERVATION

The Sama Range Biological Reservation, was created according to D.S. 22721 in 1991, with a 108000 hectaresurface with the objective of protecting the flora and fauna biological resources of the Andean Zone, the Tajzara Lagoon, the Jurina Waterfalls and the Victoria Watershed.. You can also find the Inca Road, a prehispanic culture patrimony, where the Protection area of Pino de Cerro “Huacanqui” is located, and it was created according to R.M. 182/91, with a 4758 hectare surface, located in Arce Province, its main objective is to protect the Podocarpus Partalorei (Pino del Cerro) species. In the same way, the locality of San Andrés has been declared a Tarijan Ecological Community, with the support of the Prefecture, the Municipal Government and the Tarijan Military Squad.

FLORA AND FAUNA TARIQUIA NATIONAL RESERVATION

The Flora and Fauna Tariquía National Reservation, wascreated according to Supreme Enactment Nº22277 of August 1st, 1989, and exalted to Republic Law Nº 1328, on April 23, 1992. It´s the only reservation in Bolivia thatis inside the Tucumano-Boliviana Jungle in the formation of the Andean yungas or Mountain Jungles. The main beneficiaries of Tariquia´s preservation, are the local communities, the surrounding ones and the communities along the river, the reservation has 3500 inhabitants.
